NVQS - Field Day 2003 - Planning

(Last Updated - Wed, 26 Jan 2005 at 0332 ) Several changes. NOTE - We need a dual band 2m/70cm antenna for the tower. I thought I would have one available and I don't. I need confirmation from all the attendees on if and how much/little their participation will be. If I am not sure that a person is supplying a given item it is also in RED. Friday 1630 - Setup towers

Friday 2000 - dinner at N1BQ's QTH

Saturday 0800 - setup

Saturday 1200 - lunch on-the-fly, buffet cold cuts and rolls

Saturday 1400 - begin operating [ finish setting up ;-) ]

Saturday 1800 - chicken BBQ dinner

Saturday NITE - snacks and drinks available for all

Sunday 0800 - breakfast - menu TBA

Sunday 1400 - shutdown operations - start takedown

Sunday 1400 - lunch on-the-fly, hot dogs and hamburgers

Sunday 1700 - everyone should be on the road

The general setup will be this; as you enter the field from the north, the path running south from you, Mt Mansfield, on your left. There will be two towers about 60 meters apart in a N-S line about 20 meters East/left of the path. The Superloop-80 antenna will be attached to the North tower and run North from it to a telescoping, guyed pole up 25 feet. The North tower will have a Tribander, fed by coax, and strung from the North tower to the South Tower will be one leg of a 500 foot square horizontal loop fed with ladder line in the center. The 500 foot loop will be more or less square aligned E-W and N-S going over the path towards the West side of the clearing. The South Tower will a Tribander fed by coax and have Fran's 40m/15m vertical delat loop fed by ladder line running south to a similar pole. The South Tower will also have a 6 meter beam and a 2m/70cmn omni both fed by coax.

The four operating tents will be in a N-S line just East/left of the path. Nominally they will be from North to South, HF1, HF2, HF3, VHF/GOTA about 30 feet apart. The antennas may be shifted back and forth somewhat as indicated on the chart

The comfort tent, and personal camping will be in the same spot as the past.
